Queremos facer chegar ao Goberno a nosa indignación polas graves consecuencias que a política migratoria está a ter na vulneración de dereitos humanos

Desde o ano 2014, máis de 20.000 persoas perderon a vida no Mediterráneo tratando de alcanzar o continente europeo. Diferentes mecanismos do Consello de Dereitos Humanos de Nacións Unidas sinalaron que a actual política migratoria dos países europeos é corresponsable de todas estas mortes.

O que está a ocorrer en Canarias mostra as dramáticas consecuencias das políticas de disuasión, militarización e externalización de fronteiras que se están levando a cabo, provocan que as persoas que foxen dos seus países por conflitos violentos, fame ou a pobreza crónica realicen travesías cada vez máis longas e inseguras.

O Plan Canarias, coa apertura de macrocentros con condicións hixiénico-sanitarias preocupantes e sen garantías de acollida digna, o bloqueo de miles de persoas nas illas ás que se lles impide continuar o seu proxecto migratorio e o impacto social desta situación, aproveitada por quen difunden os discursos de odio que criminalizan ás persoas migrantes, resulta un fracaso nun marco de respecto de dereitos.

Non hai escusas. As fronteiras internacionais non poden converterse en zonas de exclusión ou excepción das obrigacións dos dereitos humanos. O Goberno debe rectificar de forma urxente e inmediata a política migratoria para respectar, protexer e garantir os dereitos humanos e a dignidade das persoas.
