Representa algo que lles achega á natureza e lles pon en contacto coa realidade do día a día.
Ademais traballando a horta conséguese tomar conciencia sobre procesos vitais que tamén se dan na vida humana (nacemento, reprodución e morte). Permite usar a terra como unha ferramenta terapéutica para dar lugar a unha nova colleita no persoal e na natureza.
Lamentablemente non todo son beneficios, senón que as diferencias do entorno supoñen un recordatorio de que as persoas atópanse lonxe do seu fogar. Os tempos de recollida non son os mesmos que os que coñecían no seu país. Isto constitúe dúas situacións emocionalmente significativas: por unha banda a toma de consciencia real de que a pesar de realizar a mesma actividade que lles facía tan ben na súa terra, os tempos non son os memos e por outra banda a posibilidade de aproveitar esa diferenza para coñecer novas colleitas e traballar outras terras tomando así contacto coa realidade que están a vivir neste momento.
